HISTORIC PAVLOVA RECIPE REPUBLISHED

The famous 1933 Rangiora Parish Mothers' Union Cookery Book recipe for Pavlova has been republished in the new parish cook book, Eat Pray Cook. It was the recipe for "Pavlova Cake" contributed by Mrs W.H. Stevens of East Belt Rangiora that finally settled the inter-tasman debate over the origin of Pavlova. The people of Anglican Life Rangiora have once again combined their best recipes to produce a new cookbook served up with love and prayers.

Project organiser, The Revd Christine Allan-Johns said "it is something special to see the pavlova recipe and other period gems such as Khaki cake and Ladysmith cake alongside the modern recipes".

Copies of the new book which also reproduces the cover of its 1933 are still available from the parish office.

New Parish Manager Announcement

Considering the heavy workload of the church wardens, the resignation of the treasurer, and the effective dissolution of the St John's Sub-district committee the vestry have created the new position of Parish Manager to ensure the smooth running of the parish. After a very careful process of consultation with Audrey the Vestry disestablished the position of parish secretary effective 27th January 2012. The new position was advertised, seven applicants were interviewed and after very careful consideration Mrs Joanne Jopson has been appointed as Parish Manager commencing 23 January 2012. Jo lives in Swannanoa with her husband and two teenage daughters and is a member of the Oxford-Cust parish. She brings proven management, accounting and computer skills and has been warmly commended by her referees for her cheerful resourcefulness and initiative.

We thank Audrey for her 8 years of loyal service in her role as secretary and we recognise all the pastoral care she has also brought to her work. Those who would like to contribute to the purchase of a thank you gift for Audrey are invited to give this to the Wardens, Mike and Anne.
